Holiday Lighting Trends for 2026
From warm-white minimalism to all-out icicle drama, here are the design directions Sacramento homeowners are loving this season.

Every year we see a few design directions take off, and 2026 is shaping up to be one of the most refined seasons yet. Homeowners are leaning into intentional, architectural lighting — not just "more lights everywhere."
1. Warm-white minimalism
The biggest shift this year is the move away from cool-blue LEDs toward warm-white (2700K) bulbs. Warm white reads as classic and cozy, especially against modern stucco and dark trim. We're installing it on more than 60% of new homes this season.
2. Architectural-only roof lines
Instead of wrapping every tree, shrub, and column, the trend is to highlight the architecture — clean rooflines, peaks, and dormers — and let the rest of the yard fall into shadow. The result feels editorial, not chaotic.
3. Icicle accents on porches and eaves
Icicles are back, but used surgically. A short run over the front porch reads as snow-laden magic without crossing into "house from Christmas Vacation" territory.
4. Wreath + garland mixed-media
Lit greenery on doors, windows, and lamp posts pairs beautifully with rooflines. We're seeing more requests for fresh-cut garland with mini lights woven through it.
5. Permanent + holiday hybrid
A growing number of homeowners are installing permanent track lighting and using its "holiday mode" presets — then layering temporary C9s on the roof for that classic look. Best of both worlds.
If you're planning your design for next season, start in September — the best installation slots fill fast.
